Ways to embrace gratitude this season

Gratitude is something that can really be celebrated all year long and not merely saved for the holidays. Even though this year has certainly had its challenges, practicing gratitude is easier than you think. Here are a few tips to get you in the thankful habit.

START A GRATITUDE JOURNAL: Start by writing down one thing you’re grateful for each day. It’s doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, it just must be meaningful to you. Write a few more things down every day. Ultimately, work your way up to five unique things each day you can write down in your gratitude journal. Taking time to do this simple exercise every single day will rewire your brain to focus on happiness and positivity.

DONATE TO A LOCAL CHARITY: Now more than ever, people are in need of food, clothes, shelters, etc. Make a monetary donation to a local charity such as the San Diego Food Bank. It’s safe and practices social distance to meet the latest protocols. It will go to immediate use and you’ll feel great. Also, many charitable donations are tax-deductible.

BECOME A VIRTUAL MENTOR VIA VIDEO CONFERENCING: Without even leaving the house you can have a real impact on someone’s life, especially the youth or seniors citizens of today, via volunteer video mentoring. With video conferencing technology becoming easier and part of our daily lives, it’s pretty simple. You have a lot of expertise to share and can make a profound impact by being a consistent source of advice and collaboration.
