Out on the Refuge Day

The Fall weather is perfect for Out on the Refuge Day on September 17. Explore the unique saltwater marsh on San Diego Bay. Expert guides will help you explore and answer questions. Meet the creatures that call the refuge home including birds, lizards, insects and more. This is also a California Coastal Cleanup Day, so you’ll be helping to tidy up the off-trail spaces normally closed to the public. This event is sponsored by San Diego National Wildlife Refuse and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge was established to protect wildlife species that were threatened and endangered, and provide exclusive habitat just for them. Sweetwater Marsh provides habitat for four endangered or threatened species, and over 200 species of birds have been seen here. For more information about the event, go to their facebook event page.
